Community Music Center
CMC’s mission is to enrich the greater Portland community by providing opportunities to enjoy, learn about, and make music.Its purpose is to make excellent musical training & experiences available to as many as possible at an affordable cost.CMC is a program of Portland Parks & Recreation supported by the non-profit Community Music Center, Inc. Class offerings include:
∙Early childhood music beginning at age 6 months
∙Private instruction for youthin violin, viola, cello, & bass
∙Group instruction for youth in music skills, orchestra, chamber music, Suzuki violin/viola/cello, piano, guitar, voice, & choir
∙Group instruction for adults in violin, cello,piano, guitar, orchestra, Renaissance winds, voice, & choir
CMC adds to the rich variety of live performances in Portland with over 150 music events every year in the David Beasley Campbell Recital Hall. Some of these are by CMC faculty or visiting artists, many are by students, and most are free or low-cost and open to the public. All events are free-will donation unless specified.
